Invisalign is a state-of-the-art orthodontic system that straightens your teeth over time through a series of clear plastic aligner trays. These special aligners are removable and virtually invisible, which means that you can take them out to eat or brush your teeth, and no one can readily tell that you’re wearing them. The Invisalign system is designed to help correct mild to moderate spacing problems, and can also help fix crowded teeth, protruding teeth, small gaps, overbites, underbites, and crossbites.
As with traditional metal braces, Invisalign aligners change the position of your teeth through the application of precise, controlled force. Invisalign is more efficient and effective than standard braces, however, in that it allows for better control and timing of that force. That’s because Invisalign uses advanced 3D imaging technology to create a series of custom-made aligners that fit closely against your teeth. During the 2-week period that you wear each aligner, it’s designed to incrementally move specific teeth until you’re ready to wear the next one in the series. The process continues as you advance from one aligner to the next, until you finish with the final aligner to complete the procedure. Dr. Dworkin’s detailed treatment plan will specify which teeth should be moved at each stage for maximum efficiency and effective results.
Choosing the Invisalign system to achieve straight teeth or correct bite problems comes with several advantages. Unlike traditional dental braces, which tend to draw unwanted attention, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible and therefore more aesthetically appealing. The Invisalign system also allows for better dental hygiene. Whereas traditional metal braces can trap food and make flossing difficult and time-consuming, Invisalign aligners are fully removable so you can floss and brush as you normally would. They’re also more comfortable than traditional braces, which can often be painful. That’s because Invisalign aligners are made from a strong, medical grade plastic called SmartTrack®, which is designed to provide a snug, custom fit. The Invisalign system can also give you a more accurate idea of how you’ll look when you reach the end of the process. Dr. Dworkin will walk you through your own virtual treatment plan before you begin.
